Japanese culture in Sotunki
Sisältö
Six students and one teacher from Hokuto High School in Aomori, Japan, had the wonderful opportunity to visit Sotunki High School.
We held a cultural workshop where we introduced Japanese traditions such as origami and the Nebuta festival. It made us very happy to see that everyone was genuinely interested in Japanese culture and enjoyed experiencing it together, just as we are deeply curious about Finnish culture. We truly felt the joy and meaning of this cultural exchange.
What impressed us the most about Sotunki High School was that the principal’s office door was always open. The close relationship between teachers and students created an atmosphere where students could easily talk, share their thoughts, or ask for advice. The teachers treated each student as an individual, showing great respect, and the students seemed to enjoy their school life freely and confidently. We thought that such thoughtful practices could be the secret behind Finland’s excellent education.
It was a wonderful cross-cultural experience beyond borders. Thank you very much!
